The Kukaya Foundation Virtual Youth Hub will be a home away from home for young people. The foundation will make resources available to nurture and nature the next generation of leaders through the youth hub. The Fellows is the KF Youth Development Initiative will be the hubs first “residents”. With time more young people will call the youth hub their “home”.
Africa has the largest concentration of young people in the world, according to the UN approximately 20% between the ages of 10 and 24. While this presents a powerful opportunity for accelerated economic growth and innovation, it also presents economic and social challenges.
The Covid-19 pandemic has served to exacerbate the already weakened political, social, and economic systems in the continent. The high levels of unemployment among other challenges necessitate that the youth be skilled, upskilled, and reskilled in order to create employment for themselves and their communities.
The KF Youth Development Initiative Fellows of 2021 will be the Youth Hub’s first cohort.
